TOUR HIGHLIGHT: CRUISING ALONG THE MIGHTY AYEYARWADDY RIVER
Day 1, Mandalay-Bhamo-Mandalay boat cruise Mandalay-Mingun Boat departure-/L/D
Transfer to the Jetty. The tour starts at 09:00 am, the boat will take you on the mighty AYEYARWADDY RIVER to MINGUN about 11 km (1 hour) upriver from Mandalay whereby visits include the MINGUN BELL, weighing 90 tons and being the largest un- cracked bell in the world, HSINBYUME PAYA and the unfinished MINGUN PAYA, built as one of the world's largest Zedi by megalomaniac King Bodaw Paya. Afterwards proceed cruising upriver to Ngwe Nyein Village. Stay overnight onboard.
Following Itinerary for the boat is just a suggestion! You may have enough time to stop at several places! You may have the chance to see the rare Ayeyarwady Dolphin during your Boat trip. The Ayeyarwady Dolphin is the only fresh water dolphin living in Myanmar’s Ayeyarwaddy River.
Day 2: Mandalay-Bhamo-Mandalay boat cruise Ngwe Nyein Village-Ponar Village-Male-Kyan Nyat VillageB/L/D
After breakfast visit Ngwe Nyein Village to visit Dr. Aung Bo Pottery. Afterwards continue cruising to Ponar Village where you may have the chance to observe people washing gold at the river side! You also can visit the monastery of the village before returning back to your boat. Late afternoon arrive at Male, visit 3 pagodas on a hill. Male is an old ancient city and parts of the old city wall can be seen. Stay overnight onboard near Kyan Nyat Village.
Day 3: Mandalay-Bhamo-Mandalay boat cruise Kyan Nyat Village – HtigyaingB/L/D
Arrive Kyan Nyat Village early morning. Maybe you can meet Mr. Tin Win who could help for sightseeing for the villages. Visit Kyan Nyat market, and Shwe Mar Lae Pagoda, a nice view point over the Ayeyarwaddy River. Further you could visit an oxcart factory and Mr. Tin Win’s antique museum! He collected many interesting antiques from this area in many years. Return back to your boat continue to Oak Sone Village, a nice small village. Continue to Htigyang. Stay overnight onbard near Htigyang.
Day 4: Mandalay-Bhamo-Mandalay boat cruise Htigyaing-Moetar B/L/D
After breakfast onboard, visit Htigyang. Visit some old monasteries. One monastery was renovated after the earth-quake in 1988. Leave Htigyang before 11am and continue to Thenpuyakone Village (Lemon Hill), located at the west bank of the Ayeyarwaddy River. Visit the monastery which is famous for their Buddha image. Afterwards continue to Moetar. Stay overnight onboard near Moetar.
Day 5: Mandalay-Bhamo-Mandalay boat cruise Moetar-Kyun Daw Island-BhamoB/L/D
After breakfast, cruise to Kyun Daw Island (Royal Island). Enjoy a walk along the sand bank and visit the village. Visit the monastery and maybe you are lucky to find an English speaking retired teacher who knows well about all the Buddha relics in the monastery. Further visit the old pagodas and another monastery which was built in the 13th century. At noon time return back to your boat and continue to Bhamo. If time permits you could also visit Wai Ma Village, an elephant camp village at the west bank of the Ayeyarwaddy River. Stay overnight onboard near Bhamo.
Day 6: Mandalay-Bhamo-Mandalay boat cruise Bhamo-optional arrangements B/L/D
After breakfast, visit the local market where you will meet different nationalities from the surrounded hills (Lisu, Kachin and Shan), but most of them are not wearing tradional dresses anymore. Proceed to THEIN MAHA CHEDI, which is probably built by King Ashoka in the 3rd century. Afterwards take a horsecart to SAMPANAGO, also known as old Bhamo, an ancient trading city. Visit some ruined Pagodas, the remains of the city wall of the old Shan kingdom city Sampanago. Further visit Dein Hpa (Thein Pa) Nunnery. After returning back to Bhamo, visit some local workshops before you will observe the daily life at the Ayeyarwaddy River.
Another option: You can charter a boat to Kyat Tan Sin and Mya Zedi on the Ayeyarwaddy River! Please note, that this special boat tour is on your own expense, the Guide will be happy to assist you! Stay overnight onboard in Bhamo.

Or what about 1 night at the hotel? That is a good opportunity to have a real “roomy” shower and a proper room! Own expenses!
Day 7: Mandalay-Bhamo-Mandalay boat cruise Bhamo – Sinkan- Thenpuyakone VillageB/L/D
Early morning after breakfast, continue by boat to Sinkan, where king Anawratha used to have his elephant camp! Most houses are built out of teak, a really charming town. Visit the market and an old monastery which was built in 1929. The monastery was donated from a rich Indian family from Shwegu. You can see many antique Buddha statues. Afterwards leave Sinkan Village before noon!
Arrive at Navy Mon Village (opposite of Wai Ma Village). Visit the town and the monastery. Return back to the boat at noon time. After 5 hours cruising, arrive in Thenpuyakone Village. If time permits you could try to get an oxcart to visit Toak Gyi Village. The village is approx. 1 km away from the river. Visit the village and learn about the people’s life. Return back to your boat. Stay overnight onboard.
Day 8: Mandalay-Bhamo-Mandalay boat cruise Thenpuyakone Village-Katha B/L/D
Cruise down to Katha. After breakfast onboard arrive in Katha. Visit “Goerge Orwell City”. Explore the 2 markets. The old market is still from the british time. You still can visit the old British Club House, which is nowadays a government building. Still some colonial style buildings can be seen. If time permits visit Maung Kone Village, which is near Oak Sone Village. Most income is from the sugar mill near the village. Further you can visit a monastery. Return back to your boat. Stay overnight onboard.
Day 9: Mandalay-Bhamo-Mandalay boat cruise Katha-Ngwe Nyein VillageB/L/D
After breakfast visit Min Gone Village (King Village). The main income of the people is producing fire wood. The ladies are cutting the wood and then they will send down by oxcarts to Mandalay. The fire wood is needed to burn the bricks. In the afternoon visit Ma-Au Village, 62 miles from Mandalay. Many ancient pagodas can be visited. Some people say, the pagodas were built during Inwa period. Also don’t miss the chance to climb up the hill to enjoy a panoramic view from the top.
Some villagers are Mon. King Alaungpaya send Mon prisoners to this village at 1750!
Return back to your boat.
Day 10: Mandalay-Bhamo-Mandalay boat cruise Ngwe Nyein Village-Singu-Mandalay B/L/-
Today is your last day on the boat. Early morning cruise down to Singu. Explore Singu and return back to your boat to cruise down to Mandalay. After Lunch arrive in Mandalay.
Today you will arrive back to Mandalay! You have to say Good-Bye to the crew! Transfer to your Hotel. Hotel in Mandalay own arrangement or you my book through us!
